The Annual Integrated Global Water Cycle Observations (IGWCO) Community of Practice Science and Planning meeting will held in the City College of the City University of New York (CUNY) at the City College of New York, New York, NY on February 25 and 26, 2010.
The main objectives and goals of this year’s meeting is to (1) review the activities related to Water Societal Benefit Area; (2) identify and initiate New Water Cycle activities based on major recommendations from past workshops held in previous years, and (3) determine how the IGWCO Community of Practice will interface with GEO and other international bodies in the coming years.
In addition to receiving reports and plans on each of the Water Sector subtasks, we also expect to review some of the other GEO sub-tasks that are related to the Water Cycle SBA. These could include the User Survey of water data needs, the on-going survey of water cycle data centers and possible linkages between the Water SBA and activities in agriculture, energy, natural disasters and health to name just a few. To effectively explore these linkages, we need to have discussions and new ideas be brought to the table. This will be facilitated through a Workshop on Water Resource Assessment and Applications that will be held prior to this meeting on February 23 and 24, 2010 at the same location.
